June’s film is Rem Koolhaas: A Kind of Architect

Official Synopsis -

Rarely has an architect caused as much sensation outside of the architecture community as Rem Koolhaas. His outstanding creations such as the Dutch Embassy in Berlin, the Seattle Library, the Casa da Musica concert hall in Porto, and the Guggenheim Heritage Museum in Las Vegas are working examples of the Dutchman’s visionary theories about architecture and urban society.

Koolhaas’ work is as much about ideas as it is about constructing buildings; he is equally celebrated as a writer and social commentator, his 1978 publication Delirious New York: A Retroactive Manifesto for Manhattan is heralded as seminal text on modern society. For Koolhaas what is essential is not to create individual masterpieces, but to provoke and excite through the wide range of his activities.

REM KOOLHAAS – A KIND OF ARCHITECT is an engaging portrait of a visionary man, which takes us to the heart of his ideas. The filmmakers have made a visually inventive thought provoking portrait of the architect, prompting Rem Koolhaas to state “it’s the only film about me that I have liked.”

No matter what version of Creative Suite you’re currently using, there are dozens of tips and techniques that will help you save time on your next project and express your ideas faster. Learn how to reduce the number of steps needed to complete common tasks in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro — the tools you use every day. Here are some of the features that will be covered:

Save time with Acrobat: Prevail over deadlines with professional PDF workflows using Adobe Acrobat Pro. Automate routine tasks, streamline document reviews, and assemble a variety of file types into a polished PDF Portfolio.
Create realistic painting effects with Photoshop Extended. New tools enable you to paint in much the same way you would using real-world brushes and paints. With a new Mixer Brush tool, new bristle qualities, and new ways to blend colors, Photoshop Extended offers virtually endless possibilities for creating outstanding expressive effects, from enhancing photographic images in unusual ways to painting directly on a blank canvas.
Experience fluid vector painting with Illustrator. Enjoy the editability and flexibility of vectors along with the experience and expressiveness of painting in natural media. Paint freely with the vector-based Bristle Brush to produce lifelike brush strokes. Each brush stroke creates a path that can be edited just as easily as if it had been created with the Pen or Pencil tool in Illustrator. A preview window shows you how the Bristle Brush and its brush stroke will look.
Easy 3D extrusions with Adobe Repoussé in Photoshop Extended. Repoussé is an ancient metalworking technique for embossing artwork on the surface of metals such as gold, silver, copper, tin, and bronze. Inspired by this technique, Photoshop Extended offers a powerful new Repoussé feature for creating attention-grabbing 3D content for print or interactive content, animations, or immersive environments.
Discover Content-Aware Fill in Photoshop Extended. Remove any image detail or object and watch as Content-Aware Fill magically fills in the space left behind. This breakthrough technology matches lighting, tone, and noise so it looks as if the removed content never existed.
Beautiful strokes with Illustrator. Whether you’re designing a complex infographic or a simple icon, finessing the details of strokes is an essential task. Illustrator includes several powerful features that make working with strokes more precise and flexible, including variable-width strokes, precise arrowheads, dashed-line controls, stretch controls for brushes, and brushes with corner controls.
Simplified object selection and editing in InDesign. Whether you’re designing a document that will be printed, viewed onscreen, or both, everything from aligning and distributing space between objects to adjusting corner effects is faster and easier in InDesign. Perform multiple transformations with a single tool, adjust the white space between objects, create corner effects directly on a frame, and create grids by simply pressing arrow keys to add columns and rows.
